Ally Training

Ally Training seeks to empower members of the U-M community to be active allies to students and others with chronic conditions and/or disabilities. Ally Training uses a social justice framework to bridge new information of developmental theory to the lived experiences of students and Ally-identified people.

Participants and trainers approach the sensitive topics by creating a safe space for dialogue, while challenging pre-conceived notions. The learning environment is active and the conversations are genuine.

Ally Training is free and open to all members of the community.

Participants are asked to make a commitment:

  • To support the right of people with chronic conditions and/or disabilities to fair and equal treatment
  • To serve as a source of support and/or information
  • To learn about and promote principles of social justice
